Université Polytechnique de Gitega STEM Center

STEMpower's STEM Center at Université Polytechnique de Gitega hosted 30 students from CERU Technical High School in the African country of Burundi.

The students were welcomed by Ferdinant Niragira, who heads the Faculty of the polytechnic's ICT department. The students then spent a few days gaining firsthand experience working with the STEM Center's computer and electronics labs.

Student Irene Mukeshimana said, "This visit allowed us to see how theoretical lessons come to life in a professional setting. Concepts were carried from theory to practice."

Student Eugence Niyomwungere added, "We now see the depth of our training and the importance of mastering office tools."

Polytechnic director Jado Nkunzimana summarized, "Our STEM Center prepares students for the job market. Please support STEMpower to bring us additional computer resource."

With 133 STEM Centers practicing hands-on learning, and many more permanent STEM Centers being established in the coming months, STEMpower is shaping the future of technology and innovation across the Sub-Sahara, from ocean to ocean.

STEMpower hands-on STEM education initiatives may be 10 times more effective&sustainable than traditional foreign aid, at a cost possibly 10 times less, while many times more patriotic for both donor and recipient countries, and arguably highly likely to retain citizens within their improved homeland.
