Programmes Centres STEM Les centres STEM sont des centres d'apprentissage spécialisés qui offrent une expérience pratique en laboratoire d'ingénierie. Les étudiants de la région s'inscrivent volontairement et avec enthousiasme à divers programmes adaptés à leur âge proposés par les centres STEM, sans frais pour les étudiants. Les mentors du laboratoire guident les étudiants vers l'accès à des équipements scientifiques modernes dans un cadre confortable. Les centres servent également de lieux pour des rassemblements locaux et des expo-sciences régionales. La plupart des centres STEM d’Afrique subsaharienne sont situés à proximité ou sur un campus universitaire, ce qui constitue un atout universitaire. Une telle propriété nourrit des liens solides entre l'université et la communauté, assure une surveillance académique et assure la durabilité. Les plus grands centres STEM sont des bâtiments respectueux de l'environnement configurés pour des laboratoires, des bureaux, des entrepôts et un auditorium pour les expo-sciences et les réunions communautaires. En 2009, nos fondateurs ont construit le premier centre STEM, situé dans le quartier de Foka de la ville industrielle de Bishoftu, et bien d'autres encore. Aujourd'hui, 110 centres STEM fonctionnent dans 18 pays à travers le continent. En tant que tel, nous servons de force pour la paix et le développement nationaux. STEMpower crée davantage de centres STEM en Éthiopie, au Soudan du Sud et dans d'autres pays subsahariens. Grâce à la famille élargie des centres STEM, nous distribuons et encourageons de nouveaux programmes d'études d'ingénierie pratiques. Au-delà de nos laboratoires standards d'informatique virtuelle et d'électronique (numériques, analogiques et micro-ordinateurs), d'impression 3D, nous développons également des programmes de technologie des sols et de l'eau, de génie chimique et de biomécanique. Cliquez pour voir le 1-pager Voir le tableau des sites du projet STEMpower Initiatives Anchor 4 Cours intelligents Nos classes intelligentes peuvent accueillir plus de 30 postes de travail d'étudiants, en utilisant un seul ordinateur ! Le poste de travail de chaque étudiant (un clavier, une souris et un écran d’affichage) est connecté à un « client léger » miniature, qui est un micro-ordinateur économe en énergie. Ces environ 30 clients légers sont connectés en réseau à un seul ordinateur PC puissant, exécutant un système d'exploitation moderne. Chaque poste de travail étudiant agit comme un véritable ordinateur, effectuant les tâches informatiques du poste de travail, mais en réalité, il n’y a pas d’ordinateur PC sur aucun poste de travail ! L’arrangement « classe intelligente » permet d’économiser de grandes quantités d’électricité, réduit le besoin d’installer des câbles de gros calibre dans les bâtiments scolaires, génère beaucoup moins de chaleur et prévient même l’infection par des virus informatiques. Il s’agit d’une solution « verte » qui offre de grands avantages. Les connaissances en matière d'installation et d'exploitation ont été transférées avec succès aux exécutants locaux, c'est-à-dire que nous « formons les formateurs ». La vieille idée d’« un ordinateur physique par élève » est en train de disparaître en Éthiopie. Il existe désormais plus de 100 implémentations réussies de classes intelligentes à travers l’Éthiopie, prenant en charge des milliers de postes de travail d’étudiants. De plus, le nouveau concept de classe intelligente a été mis en œuvre dans les établissements gouvernementaux, d’enseignement et de recherche. Anchor 3 STEM-TV STEMpower s'efforce d'atteindre chaque étudiant en Éthiopie, quelle que soit sa distance par rapport aux zones urbaines. Notre bihebdomadaire STEM-TV L'émission atteint les étudiants qui ne peuvent pas accéder à Internet mais qui ont accès à une antenne parabolique de télévision domestique ou communautaire. Pour un public maximum, le spectacle est produit par des talents locaux, dans la langue nationale amharique, y compris des acteurs en âge d'étudiants qui encouragent tous les jeunes à s'engager dans la pensée et les possibilités STEM. Notre diffuseur par satellite Walta estime que 5 millions de téléspectateurs regardent nos émissions régulières de plats du samedi soir. Veuillez vous abonner à notre chaîne YouTube : STEMpower Ethiopie Anchor 2 Anchor 1 Campus partagé scientifique Le « Campus scientifique partagé » (en abrégé « SSC ») permet d’offrir un enseignement secondaire de très haute qualité qui rivalise avec les meilleures écoles des pays développés. Le concept attire les élèves des écoles publiques les plus supérieures d'une zone métropolitaine vers une école publique d'excellence axée sur la science, c'est-à-dire un SSC. Le SSC offre aux étudiants un personnel enseignant de qualité supérieure et un environnement de classe avancé, par rapport à ce que l'on trouve généralement dans les écoles secondaires d'Afrique subsaharienne. Il est intéressant de noter que 60 % des étudiants bénéficiaires du SSC sont des femmes. Le SSC propose des équipements de laboratoire et des installations informatiques de premier ordre. Le programme scientifique est plus profond et plus large. La théorie est accompagnée d'expériences d'étudiants, de matériel de recherche et de visiteurs universitaires. Il existe désormais 4 SSC opérationnels en Éthiopie (Axum, BahirDar, Hawassa et Kotebe). inculquer une qualité croissante de l’enseignement STEM dans tous les lycées publics d’Afrique subsaharienne. La mise en œuvre croissante des CSS est une marée montante qui soulève tous les bateaux du pays. Anchor 1 Sensibilisation universitaire en STEM University STEM Outreach profite des vacances d’été. Au cours de cette période d'inactivité, les fondateurs de STEMpower ont démontré comment les actifs universitaires existants (par exemple, laboratoires, dortoirs et cafétérias) et les mentors universitaires disponibles (professeurs et étudiants) pouvaient être utilisés efficacement pour créer un programme d'été universitaire de sensibilisation STEM pour des centaines de talents. étudiants dans la zone de recrutement de l'université (c'est-à-dire la communauté locale). L’approche des expo-sciences éthiopiennes peut sembler plus axée sur l’ingénierie que les expo-sciences traditionnelles des pays développés. Au lieu d'un format hypothèse-expérience-conclusion, les étudiants participant à une expo-sciences éthiopienne ont tendance à concevoir et à présenter des solutions pratiques aux problèmes qu'ils voient auxquels leur pays et leurs voisins d'Afrique subsaharienne sont confrontés. Les concours d'expo-sciences au niveau communautaire en Afrique subsaharienne sont ouverts aux élèves de la 7e à la 12e année. À ce niveau local, un étudiant discutera de son concept de projet avec son mentor local. Les mentors sont toujours disponibles via les centres STEM. De plus, alors que la dynamique STEM s'étend rapidement à l'ensemble du pays, un nombre croissant d'écoles privées et publiques organisent également leurs propres expo-sciences locales et fournissent des mentors avec une estimation totale de 1 000 étudiants qui participent chaque année. Anchor 6 Anchor 7 Fab Labs Les Fab Labs assurent la transition entre l'enseignement pratique des STEM et la fabrication de produits. Filles en STEM L’écart entre les sexes dans les domaines STEM est important et persistant. Pour combler cet écart, le programme « Girls in STEM » de STEMpower enseigne aux filles l'éducation STEM à travers des modèles de rôle et d'autres engagements culturels. Les filles acquerront une expérience pratique dans un cadre menant à des concours d’expo-sciences et à des célébrations des réalisations STEM. Identifiez les professionnelles STEM qui souhaitent parler de leur travail aux étudiantes. Profitez de moments lors de célébrations telles que le National Science & salon de l'ingénierie et garantir que les femmes dans les domaines STEM soient bien représentées. FOURNIR DES MODÈLES DE RÔLE Introduire l’éducation STEM dès le plus jeune âge. Proposez des visites sur le terrain dans des centres STEM, des musées scientifiques et des campus scientifiques partagés. Encouragez les filles à s'engager dans des projets pratiques de laboratoire en électronique, ordinateur virtuel, FabLab, mécanique, optique, etc., laboratoires que l'on trouve dans presque toutes les universités publiques, bureaux d'éducation et académies des sciences. FOURNIR UNE EXPÉRIENCE PRATIQUE Coacher les filles pour qu'elles soutiennent tous les aspects du processus d'apprentissage, y compris : des questions et même des échecs. Proposez une approche « apprendre par la pratique » dans tous les centres STEM, musées scientifiques et campus scientifiques partagés. Donnez aux filles les moyens de poser des questions même si cela semble facile. ENCOURAGER UN ÉTAT DE CROISSANCE TÉMOIGNAGE Menor Berhanu est coach au sein du projet d’entrepreneuriat et d’incubation de STEMpower en Éthiopie. Elle consulte les aspirants innovateurs pour développer leurs entreprises. Menor participe à l'évolution de STEMpower depuis 2014, rejoignant en tant qu'élève de 9e année notre centre STEM phare connu sous le nom de « Foka », situé dans la ville de Bishoftu, à 45 km au sud de la capitale Addis-Abeba. En plus d'exceller en informatique et en électronique, elle a créé une alarme antivol électronique qui détecte toute activité inhabituelle dans une maison.
